Isolation can feed depression.
We offer TeleCare support for teens.
The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted our routines and forced us to distance from others. This can lead to social isolation. Our adolescent medicine team is especially concerned about new or increased feelings of depression or anxiety in teens, who may feel cut off from friends and school life.
Through UK TeleCare, our specialists will connect virtually with you and your teen while you stay healthy at home. We offer:
- Individual counseling for teens with specific concerns or challenges.
- Group counseling to help teens learn coping skills and feel connected to others.
Here’s what to expect:
- A medical provider will speak with you and your teen to start the visit. The provider will then request that you step out so they can confidentially speak with your teen alone.
- After this, the provider will discuss next steps and recommendations with you and your teen. Virtual visits can last up to one hour. If counseling sessions are recommended, those are scheduled to last for one hour.
We also offer group counseling for parents. These sessions address ways to help your teen as well as parental concerns around social isolation.
