    Dr. Timothy Ainger joined the department of neurology in 2017 as an assistant professor. In 2015, he earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C., where he was also a President’s Scholar. He then completed a clinical internship at the Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Richmond, Va., focusing on neuropsychological assessment and cognitive rehabilitation in veterans with multiple traumas and traumatic brain injuries. He completed his postdoctoral fellowship training in clinical neuropsychology with Cornerstone Neuropsychology in High Point, N.C.

    Dr. Ainger has previously been employed by both the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of Justice. His work focuses on applied neuropsychology, and he examines ways to enhance the clinical conceptualization of diverse populations and diagnoses. His clinical work and research has included dementias, neurodegenerative disorders, stroke and cerebrovascular disease, primary and secondary changes in executive functioning, multiculturalism, forensics, and human sexuality.
