    Carolyn M. Hettrich attended medical school at the University of Washington and completed an orthopaedic surgery residency and orthopaedic research fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. She completed a sports medicine/shoulder surgery fellowship at the Vanderbilt Orthopaedic Institute in Nashville and worked as an assistant professor of orthopaedics and rehabilitation at the University of Iowa.

    Dr. Hettrich is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Orthopaedic Research Society, the American Medical Association and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, and she has held various leadership positions in these organizations.
