    Personal Statement

My job is different than other kinds of surgeons because, in general, I'm not saving lives. What I'm doing is restoring lives. I'm restoring people back to the way they were, restoring their function, their appearance and their body image after an injury or after a loss due to cancer surgery. It’s very inspiring to see the type of impact you can have in people's lives. We're operating on people's body image, their self-image and, in a way, we're operating on the soul. My goal is a happy patient. I’m trying to make that patient feel better and happier about themselves, and I don't stop until we have that.
