Voice Box Cancer Prevention

There isn’t any way to prevent voice box cancer that we know of. However, we do know there are certain risk factors for voice box cancer, including:

  • Tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke
  • Heavy alcohol use
  • Exposure to certain chemicals
  • Poor nutrition
  • HPV, or human papillomavirus, which can be prevented with the HPV vaccine

Quitting your use of tobacco products and alcohol and getting the HPV vaccine before you’re sexually active can help reduce your risk of developing voice box cancer.
