Jin Shin Jyutsu

Jin Shin Jyutsu® is the ancient art of harmonizing the body's energy system. Similar to acupuncture in philosophy and intention, Jin Shin Jyutsu uses light touch rather than needles to assist with pain, stress, nausea and other uncomfortable physical and emotional side effects of cancer treatment.

  • JSJ at Markey

Originating in Japan, Jin Shin Jyutsu translates to “The Art of the Creator through Compassionate Man.”

Our bodies contain many energy pathways that feed life into our cells. When one or more of these paths become blocked, it can cause uncomfortable symptoms. Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioners use light touch on specific areas of the body to open these pathways and restore the body’s energy system to a more harmonious state.

At Markey, Jin Shin Jyutsu is used to help you with the physical side effects from surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, while at the same time decreasing your stress and enhancing your emotional well-being.

Jin Shin Jyutsu is available for all cancer patients at the Markey Cancer Center without charge for the first five sessions. During each session, you will lay on a padded table with only your shoes removed while the practitioner applies light touch on certain areas of your body in specific sequences called “flows.” Recipients feel a deep relaxation of the body and mind and may fall asleep during the session. Afterward, your practitioner will discuss the treatment and teach to use light touch on your own to address your specific needs.

Our Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioners work collaboratively with your oncologists and physicians. We value an open dialogue about your experience with Jin Shin Jyutsu so that we can assist you and others through the cancer journey.
