Preparing your child for an appointment
Your child’s developmental-behavioral evaluation
We offer the services, care and support your child needs to have a developmental-behavioral evaluation. Once your child’s provider completes the referral and sends the required paperwork, our team will review all documentation. We will let your child’s provider know if the initial referral is accepted.
Next, a new patient packet will be sent to your home. It must be filled out by a parent or guardian to provide more information about your child’s medical history and developmental concerns. When the packet is reviewed and accepted in our office, we will contact you to make an appointment.
An experienced developmental-behavioral pediatrician or nurse practitioner will meet with your child to do a complete evaluation that provides insight into your child’s developmental-behavioral strengths and areas of concern. A variety of engaging, developmentally based evaluations will look at the different areas of your child’s development. These areas may include motor skills, speech and language skills, thinking skills and social skills.
The results from these tests help your child’s care team better understand your child’s strengths so that we can recommend fitting treatment choices. Our provider will discuss the findings with you during your initial visit. Your child may require additional evaluations or testing, which our team will help schedule. Patients are followed in the clinic or by their primary care physician, depending on their specific developmental-behavioral needs.
