Immunohistochemistry and in situ Hybridization

Singleplex and multiplex

Immunohistochemistry (IHC)

  • Demonstrates protein in tissue by reaction of antibody raised against that protein, generally followed by amplification and visualization with a chromogen.
  • BPTP can provide select antibodies—inquire about availability and cost: markey.bstp@uky.edu
  • BPTP can optimize your antibody—please contact us before ordering: markey.bstp@uky.edu
  • Fluorescent detection is available.
  • Multi-plex staining (IHC or IF) is available, pending protocol optimization.

multiplex iSH

In situ Hybridization (iSH)

  • Demonstrates RNA transcripts in tissue by hybridiziation of RNA probe against that transcript, followed by amplification and visualization with a chromogen.
  • BPTP utilizes ACD RNAScope assays for the Ventana Discovery Ultra—https://acdbio.com/automated-assay-roche
  • User must provide probe of interest and an appropriate positive AND negative probe. BPTP supplies all other supplies.
  • BPTP will optimize the procedure on your tissue using positive and negative probes.
  • Dual-plex staining is available.
  • Consultation is required before staring an iSH project or ordering reagents.  Contact markey.bstp@uky.edu
