    UK HealthCare’s UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital remains the No. 1 hospital in Kentucky and the Bluegrass Region, according to the U.S. News & World Report's Best Hospitals Rankings.   • The Joint Commission VAD program accreditation

    Joint Commission gold sealGill earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for its VAD program by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety in VAD care. This certification award recognizes UK’s dedication to maintaining state-of-the-art standards. Gill first received the Gold Seal in 2009 and has maintained certification since that time, most recently obtaining recertification in December 2017.

  • Gold Level ELSO Award for Excellence in Life Support

    Gold level ELSO award logo badgeThe ELSO Excellence in Life Support Award recognizes the Gill ECLS program for having processes, procedures and systems in place that promote excellence and exceptional care in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

    ELSO’s goal is to recognize and honor ECLS programs that reach the highest level of performance, innovation, satisfaction and quality.

    The ELSO Award signifies to patients and families a commitment to exceptional patient care. It also demonstrates to the healthcare community an assurance of high-quality standards, specialized equipment and supplies, defined patient protocols, and advanced education of all staff members.

  • ICAEL Accreditation

    Gill’s ECHO Lab has been continuously accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission for Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL) since 1999, making it the longest accredited program in the state. The faculty and staff participate in numerous training programs and routinely publish in top-tier journals. Two of the faculty (Vincent Sorrell and Mikel Smith) have received the Richard Popp Excellence in Teaching Award from the American Society of Echocardiography. All of our interpreting cardiologists are certified by the National Board of Echocardiography.

This accreditation ensures high quality patient care by requiring us to assess and improve every aspect of daily operation of the nuclear lab.
