  • Reconstructive procedures

    Cancer reconstruction

Defects created from the removal of facial cancer can be camouflaged utilizing skin flaps or skin grafts. Healthy adjacent tissue such as skin, muscle, or cartilage can be transferred to cover the area where the cancer was removed. In some cases where the cancer is large, free tissue transfer from a different area of the body is necessary. Dr. Patel has vast experience in facial cancer reconstruction.

    Trauma reconstruction

Motor vehicle accidents, athletic events, and animal bites can lead to facial fractures and/or lacerations. Facial fractures commonly treated by Dr. Patel include those of the jawbone, cheekbone, eye socket, and brow bone. Proper healing requires fixation of these broken bones. Traumatic facial lacerations can cause facial nerve damage, injury to the tear duct or scarring. Complex suturing techniques utilized by facial plastic surgeons can greatly decrease the scarring suffered by laceration patients.

    Facial paralysis

Following illness or injury, patients can experience loss of animation or movement in the face. The facial sling procedure can restore symmetry to the face, while placing a small weight in the upper eyelid can help to prevent eye dryness for the patient who no longer has control of closing their eye completely.

    – Facial reconstructive surgery patient

“I had been thinking about having some minor facial work done for awhile, but was scared of the outcome. Dr. Patel assured me that he could do just what I wanted. The outcome was great-just what I wanted it to look like. He will tell you just what you need and also explain why you may not need anything done. He is very professional.”
    – Skin analysis patient testimonial

"Dr. Patel is a very nice and caring doctor. He makes you feel comfortable and cared for. I went to him after a car accident after not being able to breathe right.  He fixed my nose just like I asked him to. My breathing is 100% better. He was very caring about my welfare and I thank him very much. I will tell anyone to go to him."
