    Personal Statement

In the field of advanced heart failure, we take care of some of the sickest patients that come into the hospital. Whether it's due to cardiac arrest, a heart attack, or heart failure that has gotten worse over time, we have the ability to treat our patients with medications, IV infusions, left ventricular assist devices, and/or heart transplants. To me, success is defined as taking care of a patient who was at death's door in the hospital and watching them walk into their room in clinic to see me. Helping them get back to their daily lives and seeing them get to spend more time with their families is what drives me as an advanced heart failure cardiologist.

My area of interest is the intersection of obesity and heart failure. In many cases, obesity can make heart failure worse, and in some cases, can even cause it. My goal is to assist and counsel patients in their weight loss journey, as an adjunct to their treatment for heart failure. Some patients may need bariatric surgery as part of that journey and I will be available to assist with pre-operative evaluation and medication management before and after the procedure. Ultimately, my goal is to help patients get back to the activities that they love doing.
