The fascinating thing about CT surgery is that it’s never the same. Something is new every day. In Kentucky, particularly, I can intervene in a lot of disease and make huge inroads into people’s lives. There’s always something to learn, and that’s the big thing about medicine: It’s always moving. It’s not static. And that kind of fits my personality.
I’m big on trying to understand that with the majority of the diseases or illnesses that we treat, you’re going to find out what’s wrong only if you put your hands on the patient – if you really go see the patient and interpret what’s going on – versus looking at a set of numbers or a picture.
