Elham Ghahari, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at UK HealthCare Advanced Eye Care. She is fellowship-trained in the medical and surgical care of glaucoma and cataracts, excelling in patient care, research, and teaching. Dr. Ghahari was born and raised in Tehran, Iran. She was inspired by the field of medicine from an early age while interacting closely with physicians in her family, especially her late grandfather.

After training in ophthalmology, followed by fellowship training in glaucoma at world-class universities, Dr. Ghahari began practicing at the University of Kentucky as a glaucoma surgeon. Because of her continued training and extensive exposure to a diverse patient population as well as a variety of surgical techniques, she is comfortable providing excellent care to all glaucoma, cataract, and refractive patients. Her skills enable patients to avoid extensive testing and unnecessary invasive procedures.

Dr. Ghahari always takes time to listen and communicate with patients and colleagues to gain valuable information in order to better serve the community. She always seeks to ensure that her patients receive the best possible medical and surgical care. Dr. Ghahari relishes working in an environment with colleagues who share a similar desire to inspire each other and learn in order to continually improve. She chose to join the UK HealthCare system because of its commitment to excellence, and says, “I try my best to serve Kentuckians with the best possible care.”
