    Personal Statement

I first got interested in medicine because I was a patient as a child. There were doctors who were very helpful and kind, and that promoted my interest in medicine. I often tell patients that we are all patients at one point in our lives.

I think seeing the patient as a whole is my biggest forte – not just seeing the patient as having a hand problem or a reconstructive problem, but looking at the patient as a person and seeing how the problem they’re having is affecting their life.

If you think about it, there’s nothing more human than hands. The way that we interact with our environment is really with hands. That’s precious.

My overall experience was optimal. Nurses, residents, technical staff were all professional, friendly and attentive to my care. This was my second surgery for carpal tunnel release with Dr. Duggal and as in my first surgery, the results are way above expectations. He is an excellent surgeon and a great physician.

answered all my questions, gave recommendations for procedures and referred me to a physical therapy office and I see my plastic surgeon on 04-24-2019,Dr. Daniel Stewart. Thanks for all the prompt care I have been receiving from University of Kentucky Hospitals.
