UK HealthCare continuing COVID-19 vaccinations; location changing

UK HealthCare will continue to give COVID-19 vaccinations for the foreseeable future. Only the location where these shots are given is changing.

UK will be announcing in the coming days when the clinic at Kroger Field will close. At that point, vaccinations will become available at multiple UK HealthCare locations, which will be detailed soon. There will be indoor and drive-thru options.

Anyone who would like to register for COVID vaccination can continue to do so below. Those who need assistance with registration can call 859-218-0111 for assistance.

Anyone who receives a first vaccination at Kroger Field before the closure of that clinic will be able to select the location for their booster when they register for their second shot using the registration form linked below.

COVID-19 vaccinations are completely free.

Request a vaccination

By completing the vaccine request form, you will be added to the database of those requesting to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the University of Kentucky’s Kroger Field location. The database will allow us to send invitations for vaccine appointments based on the recommended phased distribution from the Commonwealth of Kentucky, with priority given to health care workers, essential workers and older people. Once you receive the invitation, please respond as quickly as possible.

  • You will get an access code that allows you to schedule your appointment. This code is FOR YOUR USE ONLY. Do not share your access code with others. Instead, we encourage you to share with anyone interested in receiving vaccination. To schedule an appointment before requesting vaccination means others who have been prioritized and invited will not find an available appointment. Anyone who has not been invited to make an appointment will find their appointment cancelled and be turned away at registration.

Please note the following:

  • The FDA has authorized the emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine to prevent COVID-19 in people 16 and older under an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). However, anyone younger than 18 who receives a vaccination appointment must come to the Kroger Field clinic with a parent or legal guardian.
  • Each day, UK HealthCare will assess the individual requests based on their priority as outlined above. Once your request is prioritized, you will receive your invitation and will be able to select a date and time to receive your vaccine.
  • Invitations will be issued on a rolling basis and are dependent on how many vaccines are allocated to UK HealthCare on a weekly basis and the number of qualified applicants in the queue.
  • Once you are moved to the top of the queue, you will be invited to select a date and time for vaccination when the phased vaccine rollout gets to your risk group. Vaccines will be given in a central location: Kroger Field at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
  • Both the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines require two doses – an initial shot that will be followed by a booster shot weeks later. UK HealthCare is prepared to provide individuals with both doses, as allocations become available. Read more about the vaccines.
  • PLEASE BE PATIENT. Although we plan to vaccinate thousands of people each day, six days a week, it will still take several months to vaccinate everyone who wishes to be vaccinated.
  • Vaccinations will be administered at Kroger Field. You may park in the blue lot and follow the directional signage to the vaccine clinic. Our clinic is on one level and is accessible.
  • UK HealthCare will not charge for COVID vaccination.
  • Those who cannot access our online tools, or need assistance filling out this form, may call 859-218-0111 for assistance.
  • If you have questions about the COVID-19 vaccines, please visit our FAQs.
  • If you have a health condition and have questions about whether vaccination is recommended for you, please talk to your health care provider.

After you request a vaccination:

  • The invitation will be sent to the email address you provide on this form.
  • Look for an email from UK HEALTHCARE VACCINATIONS.
  • Once you receive the invitation, please respond as quickly as possible. You will get an access code that allows you to schedule your appointment. This code is FOR YOUR USE ONLY. Inappropriately sharing this code could potentially delay vaccination of someone who has been prioritized and invited to schedule an appointment.
  • Anyone using an access code who has obtained it improperly will have their appointment canceled or will be turned away at the vaccination clinic.
  • Your information will be reported to the state for the Kentucky Immunization Registry but will not be used for any other purposes.
  • Kentucky's Phased Plan

To be as fair as possible, UK HealthCare is following Kentucky’s phased plan.

Kentucky and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have directed that vaccinations be offered in the following phases:

    • 1A: Long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities, healthcare personnel.*
    • 1B: First responders, anyone age 70 or older, K-12 school personnel.*
    • 1C: Anyone age 60 or older, anyone age 16 or older with CDC highest risk C19 conditions, all essential workers.*
    • 2: Anyone age 40 or older.*
    • 3: Anyone age 16 or older.*
    • 4: Children under the age of 16 if the vaccine is approved for this age group (est. 18 percent of Ky. population).
