Dr. Mark Newman receives prestigious recognition for advancing field of anesthesia

Dr. Mark F. Newman was recently honored by Duke Anesthesiology with the endowed Mark F. Newman Professorship at the Duke University School of Medicine.

We’re very proud to share that our leader, Dr. Mark F. Newman, was recently honored by Duke Anesthesiology with the endowed Mark F. Newman Professorship at the Duke University School of Medicine.

During Dr. Newman’s distinguished career at Duke, he elevated Duke Anesthesiology to international renown through his passion for patient care, research and faculty development.

A pioneer in his field of perioperative neurologic research, Dr. Newman has played a significant role in improving patient outcomes and advancing the field of anesthesia. Since joining UK HealthCare as executive vice president for health affairs in October 2017, he has continued to build on his extraordinary legacy, continuing our growth as the academic medical center for the people of Kentucky and beyond.

Dr. Newman accepted this remarkable honor on Sunday, October 20, at Anesthesiology 2019 in Orlando, the annual conference of the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
