About

Dee A. Abrams is a native Kentuckian and lives in Lexington with her husband and two children. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in athletic training from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond and has more than 20 years of experience in the field. She attended the University of Kentucky and obtained her master's degree in physician assistant studies in 2005. She is board certified and has extensive experience in cardiology, neurosurgery and internal medicine.

Personal Statment

Cardiology became my focus once I realized the beauty and complexity of the heart. I enjoy putting the many pieces of symptoms, medications, anatomy and testing together to see the problem and help patients fix it so that they can lead a better life.

I believe in caring for the whole person and treating the individual, rather than the organ or lab result. My patients are not a number to me. My patients are humans with lives, families, hopes and dreams. My job is to help my patients reach their health goals.

Outside of medicine, my passions include yoga, natural living and getting out in nature as much as possible.

The Dr kept looking more at the person that brought me than at me during the discussion of my treatment.

Dr. Abrams is the best doctor I've had - her communication skills are the best there is. You can simply have a normal conversation with her about your concerns, and she listens and offers her expert advice, opinions, and treatments while still staying conversational. Please, do not let Dr. Abrams leave UK Healthcare!

Never saw her, as explained above. One hour and fifteen minutes wait time is way beyond the limit of my patience. Medical personnel often forget that perhaps the patient's time is just as important as theirs.

P.A. & doctor made sure my wife and myself understood the procedure entirely and assured us they would not proceed if we didn't understand.
