First of all, thank you.
It is amazing to see how #TeamKentucky has come together to support one another in these uncertain times.
UK HealthCare currently has an adequate supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) on hand to protect employees and patients from COVID-19, and we are acting quickly to secure more. However, the global supply for this equipment changes daily and we are grateful that the community has stepped up to help in our efforts to stay prepared.
While the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not suggest cloth material as a first-line defense against COVID-19, cloth masks and gowns work well for other situations and can help conserve precious supplies of N-95 respirator masks and other equipment.
We are asking for donations of cloth masks that we will use to cover our existing supply of N-95 masks.
Completed masks and gowns can be dropped off at the information desk just inside the revolving doors at the front entrance of UK HealthCare's Chandler Hospital, Pavilion A. If you do not feel comfortable going into the hospital, please email UK.Volunteer@uky.edu to coordinate pick-up in front of Chandler, Pavilion A.
- We cannot accept packages through the mail, nor can we offer pick-up service.
- We will accept items between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
- Completed items must be in a closed plastic bag or plastic container.
We are so grateful for the outpouring of support from this community. Our staff is working tirelessly to ensure that patients are safe and cared for while simultaneously anticipating and preparing for what’s next.
If you have additional questions, please email UK HealthCare Volunteer Services at UK.Volunteer@uky.edu.
The fact that you are willing to recognize that hard work is humbling.
