- Pulmonary Critical Care and Sleep Medicine
My name is David M. Mannino; I am currently the Director of the Pulmonary Epidemiology Research Laboratory and the Director of the Southeast Center for Agricultural Health and Injury Prevention.
I was formerly the chief science officer of the Centers for Disease Control's Air Pollution and Respiratory Health Branch. While at CDC I was the lead author on key publications reporting on the epidemiology of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma. I have over 220 publications in leading peer-reviewed journals on topics that range from the epidemiology of lung disease to health effects related to air pollutant exposure.
I am an active member of and adviser to several professional organizations, including the COPD Foundation, the USCOPD Coalition, the National Lung Health Education Program, and the Alpha-1 Foundation. I am an Associate Editor of the Journals of the COPD Foundation and am on the editorial board of Thorax, Chest, AJRCCM, and the IJCOPD.
