| 1. Start your tour with the Hospital Exterior - The new main entrance will simplify access to the hospital and will unify the new facility with the Kentucky Children’s Hospital, the Gill Heart Institute and the new parking structure.
2. Parking Garage and Shuttle - An easily accessible new parking garage will be just across South Limestone. Opening fully in Spring 2008, the garage will have 1,600 spaces when complete and FREE shuttle service to the Emergency Department and main entrance 24 hours per day. A separate shuttle will serve Kentucky Clinic during clinic hours.
3. Skyway - An enclosed and climate controlled pedestrian bridge will provide a convenient walking path to the mezzanine level of the new hospital. Golf-cart transport will be available. The skyway will be constructed after the new hospital is built.
4. Emergency Waiting - The expanded emergency department will be the size of a football field. Easily visible and accessible from South Limestone, it will feature separate entrances and waiting areas for children and adults, to reduce stress and improve the capacity for specialized care.
5. Auditorium - The large auditorium will be a central venue for lecture series and performances

6. Coffee Shop - The warm and inviting coffee shop will provide quick, grab-and-go meals or snacks and is adjacent to outdoor seating.
7. Chapel - The serene retreat of the chapel will offer a space for quiet meditation.
8. Cafeteria - The spacious cafeteria will provide a complete and diverse menu with ample indoor seating and access to a courtyard terrace.
9. Health Education Center - The Health Education Center will be a valuable resource for patients and families seeking guidance and for members of the community doing research.
10. Patient Areas - All patient rooms will be private and among the largest in the country. Each will have its own private bath, widescreen television, ample natural light and space for a family member to stay overnight.
11. Atrium - The new atrium will be the gateway to 1.1 million square feet of floor space for advanced patient care. It is designed to be filled with natural light through a two-story skylight and will feature commissioned artwork, wood and marble accents, an inviting water feature and multifunctional seating areas. |
