UK Internal Medicine Group (IMG) was awarded the Kentucky Health IT Innovation Award from the Kentucky Regional Extension Center for its work in adopting electronic health records.
In 2014, IMG achieved Stage 2 Meaningful Use designation, making it a leader in eHealth among its peers. The Regional Extension Center noted that IMG’s early adoption of the electronic health records has paved the way for the group’s recognition as a medical home and prepared it for value-based payment.
The American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP®) has recognized Chandler Hospital, which includes surgeries performed at Good Samaritan Hospital and in UK’s outpatient-based Center for Advanced Surgery, as one of 52 ACS NSQIP participating hospitals that have achieved meritorious outcomes for surgical patient care.
ACS NSQIP is the only nationally validated quality improvement program that measures and enhances the care of surgical patients. This program measures the actual surgical results 30 days after surgery as well as compensates for differences among patient populations and degrees of sickness.
The program’s goal is to reduce infection or illness related to a surgical procedure or death related to a surgical procedure and to provide a firm foundation for surgeons to apply the best scientific evidence to the practice of surgery.

More than 125 UK HealthCare physicians affiliated with UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital, Kentucky Children's Hospital and UK HealthCare Good Samaritan Hospital appear on the
Best Doctors in America® List for 2015 - more than any other hospital in Kentucky. Only 5 percent of doctors in America earn this prestigious honor, decided by impartial peer review.
The Best Doctors in America list, assembled by Best Doctors Inc. and audited and certified by Gallup®, results from exhaustive polling of more than 40,000 physicians in the United States. Doctors in more than 40 specialties and 400 subspecialties of medicine appear on this year’s list. In a confidential review, current physician listees answer the question, “If you or a loved one needed a doctor in your specialty, to whom would you refer?” Best Doctors Inc. evaluates the review results, and verifies all additional information to meet detailed inclusion criteria.

Family & Community Medicine recently received designation as a Level III Patient-Centered Medical Home by the
National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), which elevates the practice to an elite status nationally.

Among other initiatives leading to the designation, Family & Community Medicine increased the number of nurse practitioner visits devoted to new patients and placed further emphasis on same-day appointments for existing patients. The designation is effective until July
