As a result, we have developed numerous resources to assist them with all aspects of medicine, including professional development, referral assistance, communication of patient information, and sub-specialty care.

  • Referrals and Consultations

    The easiest way for community providers to contact a University of Kentucky specialist for referrals or consultations is by contacting UK HealthCare's medical call center, UK•MDs:

    You may also print and fax the form and other pertinent patient information such as demographics and a copy of the insurance card to 859-323-4607 or toll-free fax 800-888-2693. Our call agents will direct your patient referral to the appropriate scheduler and clinical area to make the appointment.

    Emergency Transport Services

    UK Dispatch Services will facilitate an adult, pediatric or neonatal emergency transfer via air medical or ground EMS, call 800-777-8537. For newborn and pediatric emergency transport, Kentucky Kids Crew is available 24/7. You may also call UK·MDs 800-888-5533 (in Lexington, 859-257-6325 and ask for dispatch services.

    UK HealthCare’s Physician Handbook for Patient Referral is a comprehensive directory of our departments and physicians.

    Printed copies will be distributed to medical offices soon. Physicians: call 859-323-4845 to request a copy of this handbook. You may also search our online departmental/divisional directory.
