About

Peter Giannone received his medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse, College of Medicine, Syracuse, N.Y. He completed a fellowship in neonatology at Brown University, Women and Infant's Hospital of Rhode Island, Providence. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

Dr. Giannone came to UK HealthCare from Ohio State University where he served as medical director of the NICU. He has been continually externally funded for the last ten years to support his research interests which include necrotizing enterocolitis and brain injury in preterm infants.

Dr. Giannone's clinical interests include care of the extremely preterm infant and newborn resuscitation. He currently serves as chief of the Division of Neonatology and Vice Chair of Pediatric Research at Kentucky Children’s Hospital.
