Meriem K. Bensalem-Owen is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in epilepsy, clinical neurophysiology and neurology. Bensalem-Owen specializes in the care of adults with epilepsy with a special focus on the treatment of drug-resistant epilepsy. She has special interests in planning for epilepsy surgery in potential candidates and in responsive neuro-stimulation as well as in caring for women with epilepsy during their reproductive years.

Bensalem-Owen is a fellow of the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society and a fellow of the American Neurological Association. She is member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Epilepsy Society and honorary member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She received several teaching awards including the Abraham Flexner Master Educator Award and the Champions in Health Award by the Epilepsy Foundation Kentuckiana.
