Joanne E. Brown, DNP, APRN

Biography

My name is Joanne Brown; I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the State University of New York, College at Plattsburgh. I received both my Master of Science degree in nursing and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Kentucky. I am nationally certified as a women's health nurse practitioner, as a family nurse practitioner and as a certified tobacco treatment specialist. I am a member of the Kentucky Coalition of Nurse Practitioners & Nurse Midwives, the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and the UK LGBTQ* Advisory Board. I am actively involved and holds leadership positions with the American College Health Association. I enjoy collaborating with interdisciplinary teams across campus and participating in research activities. Prior to joining University Health Service, I worked as an APRN in a private OB-GYN practice and for a community-based free clinic. I joined UHS in 2006 and although my primary focus is women’s health, I also see tobacco treatment patients and primary care patients.
