About

Dr. Erich Maul received his Bachelor of Science in Biology Magna Cum Laude from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania in 1994, his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1999 and Master of Public Health from the University of Kentucky in 2014. Maul received residency training in Pediatrics at Kessler Air Force Medical Center in Biloxi, Miss. from 1999-2002 and was selected as Chief of Residents from 2002-2003. In 2004, he received the US Air Force Clinical Excellence Award as the top physician in the US Air Force Medical Service.

Currently, he is a Professor of Pediatrics, Medical Director for Progressive Care and Acute Care, as well as Chief of Hospital Pediatrics at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. He has received multiple awards for education including the Pediatric Clerkship Teaching Award from 2009-2012, the Wheeler Teaching Award from the Kentucky Children’s Hospital housestaff and Flexner 5-Star Master Educator status at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.

Dr. Maul is actively involved in the Kentucky Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics as their Key Spokesperson for Hospital Medicine as well as nationally as a member of the AAP’s PREP Hospital Medicine Editorial Board and a member on the planning committee for the AAP’s Clinical Pediatric Hospital Medicine CME Course. Locally, he serves as an Emergency Operations Center Planning Section Chief with the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government Division of Emergency Management.
