Pediatric Endocrinology
The Division of Pediatric Endocrinology studies and treats diseases of the endocrine system in children, including growth problems, bone pubertal development, thyroid disorders and diabetes. Since these diseases can affect the lives of the entire family, counselors and specialists are also part of a team that helps children and families deal with every aspect of the disease.
Some of the more common pediatric endocrine disorders we treat are:
- Diabetes mellitus
- Growth disorders
- Hypopituitarism
- Thyroid disorders
- Problems of calcium metabolism
State-of-the-art facilities
Our outpatient clinics operate five days each week, seeing approximately 2,500 patients each year. Patients in Eastern Kentucky with diabetes mellitus can visit one of our traveling clinics devoted exclusively to the treatment and management of the disease.

We have a team of specialists who travel to clinics throughout the state to see established patients with diabetes mellitus closer to home.
