Head and neck cancer team

The UK Markey Cancer Center has a dedicated Head and Neck Cancer Team that includes physicians, nurses and researchers from multiple specialties. Patients with benign or malignant tumors of the lips, tongue, mouth, pharynx (between the larynx and esophagus) and larynx (voice box) are seen in a comfortable, supportive environment. Treatment options include thyroid and parathyroid surgery, microvascular reconstruction, cutaneous malignancy and laser surgery.

Radiation therapy, often combined with chemotherapy, is frequently used to treat these cancers. The goal of this therapy is to treat the cancer while minimizing side effects.

We also have a dedicated thyroid cancer team that specializes in treating patients with benign or malignant tumors of the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.
