After a umbilical hernia surgery, how long should I leave the bandage on?  Thanks

In general, I recommend leaving a bandage in place for 2 days.  If there are steri-strips or tapes across the incision, I would recommend leaving them in place for at least one week.  Once the steri-strips start to detach from the skin, they can be removed.

It is generally safe to shower within 48 hours of your surgery.  I would not recommend a tub bath or swimming activities for two weeks.
