The Friedell Committee held its fall meeting on Sunday and Monday of this week at Shakertown in Pleasant Hill- Mercer County. What a historic place that provided a wonderful setting for this group to meet to discuss health care reform matters happening both in Kentucky and nationally.

On Sunday evening after a delicious traditional shaker dinner, I had the opportunity to present an update on the Health Care Reform debate, which is occurring on the national scene. I have to continue to change my presentation as the information continues to change!

I have previously posted on the great work that is done by this committee as they work on advancing access to health care for all Kentuckians.  Their mission, "to improve the health of all Kentuckians by assuring the ongoing inclusion of values-based principles in a transformed, high-performing health system" is a true testament of the hard work and passion these individuals dedicate to the health of our Commonwealth. We are lucky to have The Friedell Committee and its membership of such an outstanding group of professionals who have dedicated their careers to advancing health care for Kentuckians.

I was proud that UK HealthCare and the various health related colleges had several representatives actively participating on this group. For a complete list of members and more information about The Friedell Committee I encourage you to visit their website at http://www.friedellcommittee.org

As healthcare reform appears to be coming to a head in DC, I look forward to the discussions at the next meeting of this group.  It will be interesting to see how the events at the national level will have an impact on the work of this group and their agenda for the next meeting.

Check out the great autumn pictures below from the Shakertown meeting.
