NAMI Walk on Saturday is a Success
On Saturday October 10, I had the opportunity to participate in the annual NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) Walk which took place at the Kentucky Horse Park. http://www.nami.org This is the fifth consecutive year that I have had the opportunity to participate in this event. I am very proud that UK HealthCare was visible as a sponsor of this event. I am also proud that the UK Department of Psychiatry had a team in the Walk for the second year in a row. http://www.mc.uky.edu/psychiatry My wife and I were asked to be on the UK Department of Psychiatry team, and as you'll see below we also sported our UK HealthCare shirts. There was a great turnout for the NAMI Walk again this year with a crowd of over 1,000 participants from all across the state of Kentucky. There were 61 teams who participated in the walk. I saw teams from Paducah in western Kentucky to an ARH team from Hazard in eastern Kentucky. I was especially pleased to see that younger people are becoming interested in these activities and in the field of mental health. There was a team from the PSY CHI club at UK (pictured below) which is the Psychology Club. I enjoyed meeting these students and discussing their career goals in this area. Also check out the pictures below of the UK Department of Psychiatry Team and other pictures from the event.

Martha and I were staying warm in our UK HealthCare shirts.

UK HealthCare was again a sponsor of the Walk and NAMI Lexington.

I was proud to see all the UK HealthCare folks who attended the walk.

Over 1,000 people attended the annual NAMI walk.

The NAMI Walk is held at the Horse Park, a great setting!
