Corning Incorporated is the world leader in specialty glass and ceramics, but few people know that one of their key research and development offices in the world is located in Harrodsburg, KY. And they've been there since 1952! On October 6th, Corning was gracious enough to invite me to Harrodsburg for their Medical Open House.

My host for the day was UK HealthCare's own Dr. Ray Garman from the Department of Preventive & Occupational Medicine, a department within the College of Public Health http://www.mc.uky.edu/Publichealth/raygarman.html. Dr. Garman serves as Corning's on-site medical advisor for any occupational medicine and return-to-work needs. It's a great way for UK to provide services to the employers who are so important to our Commonwealth. As a result, Corning continues to develop exciting products which are shipped around the world.  I was especially impressed with the way they have incorporated an overall health and wellness focus into their work site wellness initiatives. Corning was recently ranked in the Top 25 "Best Places to work in Kentucky."

Dr. Garman and the Corning human resources team, which includes Susan LaCoe and Pam Sadler, were amazing hosts.

Dr. Ray Garman from UK HealthCare and Susan LaCoe of Corning hosted an excellent Medical Open House.
