Our program specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic diseases affecting the digestive system. It is the largest gastrointestinal practice in Kentucky based on the number of gastroenterologists and surgeons and provides the most advanced treatments available to patients at three locations: UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital, the Veteran Affairs Hospital in Lexington and UK Good Samaritan Hospital. Specialized clinics for inflammatory bowel disease, hepatitis C, heartburn and therapeutic endoscopy are available.
The faculty members have major clinical and basic research interests in inflammatory bowel disease, therapeutic endoscopy, nutritional evaluation and support, and liver disease.
