Diabetes weight management

The Barnstable Brown Kentucky Diabetes and Obesity Center weight management program is a 12-week lifestyle modification program based on the Diabetes Prevention Program. We will teach you healthy habits you can use for the rest of your life and provide you with the right tools to achieve your goals and maintain your new, healthier lifestyle.

Although we specialize in patients with co-morbidities related to obesity such as diabetes and HTN, our program is open to anyone. We can help manage blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol and other metabolic complications. This is a food-based program that is led by a professional team including physicians, physician assistants, registered dietitians, and certified diabetes educators.

  • Philip A. Kern, MD
  • Stephanie Rose, MD
  • Jessica Brock, PA-C
  • Sheri Setser-Legg, MS, RD, CDE

Enrollment is ongoing, so patients can enroll at the start of each 12-week  session or at any time a spot is available.

Please call for 859-323-2232 for availability.

Our program includes medical monitoring and a private dietitian consultation. Interested patients must attend their physician assistant and dietitian visits prior to the start of the 12-week session. We will make every effort to schedule these on the same day if requested.

Along with medical monitoring and dietician consultation, our program includes 12 weekly group sessions run by a registered dietitian that covers topics ranging from calorie counting and exercise to emotional eating and staying motivated.

You can find the curriculum with details for each session here.
