What a tragedy!

Yesterday the world lost its best show jumping horse, Hickstead, ridden by Canadian Eric Lamaze. He collapsed and died in the ring after finishing the 13 jump course. My first impression, after watching the video, is that his death was due to a ruptured aneurism, which leads to a massive internal bleeding and death. He was a beautiful and talented horse, the Gold medalist of the Beijing Olympics, and winning the prize for the best jumping horse during the 2010 World Equestrian Games. I was fortunate to see him shine during the WEG and I met Eric in person, at which time I made sure to tell him I loved his horse and I was the spokesperson for the entire equestrian world.... he laughed.... Hickstead was only 15, and will be dearly missed.
