National recognition continues to pour in for UK HealthCare and its talented providers. This time, we're proud to announce one of our nurse leaders, Patricia Howard, PhD, RN, has been chosen as a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Dr. Howard is also a fellow of the Academy of Emergency Nursing.

Only 176 nurse researchers, policymakers, scholars, executives, educators and practitioners from across the country were selected for the honor. Dr. Howard is one of just three honorees from Kentucky.

The class will be inducted in October during the academy's annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

In announcing the class, academy President Joanne Disch said becoming a fellow is "one of the most prestigious honors in the field of nursing."

Becoming a fellow involves a rigorous process. Fellows must demonstrate a significant contribution to nursing and health care and be sponsored by two current academy fellows. Applicants are reviewed by elected and appointed fellows, and selection is based in part on how a nominee has influenced heath policy.

We congratulate Dr. Howard on this prestigious honor.
