Rising health care costs are a huge concern for businesses across the nation. Now, more than ever, companies are looking for innovative ways to increase employee health and wellness while still remaining competitive.

A recently-released report by the University of Kentucky's Institute for Workplace Innovation (iwin) sponsored by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), CVS Caremark and UK HealthCare, highlights some best practices in health and wellness initiatives that are taking place right here in Kentucky.

The report, "Creating Healthy Organizations: Promising Practices in Kentucky," provides case studies of 23 Kentucky organizations (including University of Kentucky) that are currently implementing valuable health and wellness programs. It also offers a new "HealthIntegrated Model" which helps organizations integrate health into their greater strategic plan. Company health and wellness programs are a win-win for employers and employees.

Kudos to UK's iwin on creating such a valuable report. It has received national exposure and is a testament to all of the positive health and wellness initiatives taking place in Kentucky.
