Operation Pumpkin

Here at UK HealthCare, we're used to performing operations. However, this month, we are co-sponsoring a different kind of operation: "Operation Pumpkin," an initiative of WUKY and the Kentucky Blood Center designed to emphasize the importance of donating blood to save lives.

This month-long campaign will feature events at the Lexington Farmer's Market and Keeneland Racetrack to raise awareness about the need for blood products in Central Kentucky. The culmination of the campaign will take place on Friday, Oct. 28, during "Halloween at Gratz Park" where attendees will have the opportunity to raise funds by bidding on several pumpkins donated and decorated by local celebrities.

If you've ever wanted a pumpkin signed by Coach Matthew Mitchell and Coach Joker Phillips, or a pumpkin with a hat signed by Coach John Calipari, now is your chance.
