Interprofessional Grand Rounds Series Offers Chance for Valuable Discussion Across Health Science Colleges
Last Friday, I had the pleasure of participating in the first
session of the 2011-12 UK Interprofessional Grand Rounds Series,
"Accountable Care: Beyond Heath Care Reform." This year's series will
build upon last year's Interprofessional Grand Rounds Series which also
focused on health care reform. I encourage everyone to come out to these
forums to learn about and discuss the effects of health care reform
from a variety of different viewpoints.
This particular session, entitled "New Reimbursement Models for
Interprofessional Practice," featured Ed Erway, UK HealthCare chief
revenue officer, and Xiaoyi Huang, assistant vice president for policy
at the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems. It
was great to hear the perspectives presented by Ms. Huang and Mr. Erway
from a federal and health care enterprise outlook, respectively.
A big thanks goes out to UK's Center for Interprofessional HealthCare
Education, Research and Practice and those in UK HealthCare who make
this series a possibility. UK is truly unique in the fact that we are
one of a few universities to have all six health science colleges
(Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Public Health and Health
Sciences) all on the same university campus. This Grand Rounds Series
offers the perfect collaborative opportunity for those in all health science colleges.
Check out some of the pictures below. I hope to see you at the next session!
