Governor Beshear Brings Christmas Joy to Kentucky Children's Hospital
Last week Governor Beshear visited our Kentucky Children's
Hospital to bring Christmas joy to the patients and families. The
Governor's staff graciously donated gifts for the third year in a
row and I just want to take this opportunity to once again say thank
you. This year each patient received a gift from a doll and book to a
board game. Seeing the happiness on the faces of these children truly
epitomizes the definition of "giving back." "This is what the spirit of
the season is truly about-giving back," said Gov. Beshear. "I know the
toll illness brings not only to these children, but their families as
well. And I hope that today's gift delivery provided a bit of
light-hearted relief in what can be a difficult time."
I was excited to be a part of the Governor's visit and help push the
cart to deliver presents (see picture below). It reminded me of my CHA
days when we would take gifts to KCH during Christmas for the children.
However we would take gifts not for the children, but for their
parents. Each child had the opportunity to pick something out to wrap
for their parents. It was great seeing them feel so excited and proud to
give their parents a gift on Christmas. I encourage everyone to give
back this holiday season. Whether it is a gift or a simple gesture, you
have the opportunity to spread of bit of Christmas joy as well. Merry
Christmas and Happy Holidays!
