The gracious gift of Dr. Sibu and Becky Saha, as the press release below states, has created a legacy of research excellence. Their gift has resulted in the naming of the Dr. Sibu and Becky Saha Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC). The CVRC, closely associated with the UK Healthcare Gill Heart institute, focuses on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the heart and blood vessels. The cardiovascular research center has done an amazing job of becoming a renowned location for research. This is evident with the amount of funding the center receives. Just to name a few, the center received, $8 million in NIH funding, $271,000 in American Heart Association Awards and $159,975 in American Diabetes Association Awards.

Over the course of his career Dr. Saha has helped Kentuckians gain access to better care. He founded the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation program- a rehabilitation program that is unprecedented in rural Kentucky. He has also addressed the need to increase the amount of cardiology nurses in Eastern Kentucky, through the creation of an endowment fund used to help foot education costs.

Dr. Saha represents what are physicians are about- helping their patients in every way possible," said Dr. Michael Karpf, UK Executive Vice President for Health Affairs. "And now the generosity of the Saha family will enable us to continue to bring internationally known researchers to UK, to continue the process of discovering how to best to prevent, diagnose and treat heart disease in Kentucky and around the world."
