The newly named, Saha Cardiovascular Research Center
The gracious gift of Dr. Sibu and Becky Saha, as the press
release below states, has created a legacy of research excellence. Their
gift has resulted in the naming of the Dr. Sibu and Becky Saha
Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC). The CVRC, closely associated with
the UK Healthcare Gill Heart institute, focuses on the prevention,
diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the heart and blood
vessels. The cardiovascular research center has done an amazing job of
becoming a renowned location for research. This is evident with the
amount of funding the center receives. Just to name a few, the center
received, $8 million in NIH funding, $271,000 in American Heart
Association Awards and $159,975 in American Diabetes Association Awards.
Over the course of his career Dr. Saha has helped Kentuckians gain
access to better care. He founded the cardiopulmonary rehabilitation
program- a rehabilitation program that is unprecedented in rural
Kentucky. He has also addressed the need to increase the amount of
cardiology nurses in Eastern Kentucky, through the creation of an
endowment fund used to help foot education costs.
Dr. Saha represents what are physicians are about- helping their
patients in every way possible," said Dr. Michael Karpf, UK Executive

family will enable us to continue to bring internationally known
researchers to UK, to continue the process of discovering how to best to
prevent, diagnose and treat heart disease in Kentucky and around the
