UK HealthCare Emergency Department Open Houses
One of three trauma rooms equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring and life support systems.
to the new UK Chandler Emergency Department!! Over the past several
weeks, I have been on several tours of the new UK Chandler
Hospital, including the emergency department, and I have one word to
say - amazing! I am so proud to be a part of this project that will
impact the state and even surrounding states for years to come. There
have been open houses for employees of the Medical Center, the
University Campus and providers across the state. During the medical
center employee open house approximately 2,000 people went on the tour
and the first person showed up at 5:45 AM even though the tour didn't
get started until 6:00AM!
Even though I was unable to attend the open houses for the ED, I
heard outstanding positive feedback. The teams that organized the open
houses truly need to be commended. Team work, flexibility and
coordination was very evident. A team of 70 volunteers offered their
time to be greeters, experts, tour guides, etc. These events were very
successful. I would like to specifically thank Jan Taylor, Geoff Blair,
Penne Allison, Patti Howard and Dr. Roger Humphries. Because of
their extraordinary planning efforts and expertise, our employees
now feel included, more knowledgeable about the facility and most
importantly they are excited and proud.
I hope everyone enjoyed walking through the Emergency
Department. These tours make it apparent that we are indeed becoming a
regional medical center. We are becoming one of the national
healthcare leaders with our emphasis on advanced sub-specialty care and
expert providers. In addition, we have some of the most advanced
technology. See the pictures below of the employee open house. Even
Stitches, the Kentucky Children's Hospital mascot, came out to see the
space and welcome employees!
