The "Power" in Healthcare Partnerships...

I was invited to be the speaker at the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce  "Power in Partnerships" breakfast meeting yesterday morning.

Approximately 250 business and health care executives were in attendance for this event. The meeting was held at the Carson Center which was an outstanding setting for the meeting.

I was able to showcase the phenomenal growth at UK HealthCare in terms of clinical volumes and physician recruitments over the past couple of years.  Likewise I shared some construction pictures of  the new A. B. Chandler Hospital.  It was also an opportunity to talk about the recent accomplishments of the UK Medical School and the UK College of Pharmacy.

We also combined this trip with meetings with health care executives and physicians from the Lourdes Hospital.  My long time colleague, Lynn King of Lourdes, was gracious enough to give me a tour of the hospital. I was quite impressed with their new Center for Women's Health.  They even have tea to serve to all of their patients to sooth their nerves.

I look forward to the creation of better strategic alliances with the medical community in the Paducah.  This will allow us to advance UK HealthCare's mission in education, research and excellence in clinical care as we position UK HealthCare to better serve all Kentuckians.  I emphasized the importance of keeping care close to home when ever possible, but reaching out to UK HealthCare when the need arises for advanced medical services.

The audience was very impressed with my presentation, but they were probably more impressed door prize that I delivered...a basketball autographed by Coach Calapari!
