Commerce Lexington recently held the first of its Public Policy Luncheon Series for the year at the Griffin Gate Marriott on January 29th.  Congressman Ben Chandler was the guest speaker for the event, which was attended by approximately 250 business and government leaders from the Lexington area.
President Lee Todd and others from the University of Kentucky Leadership team including Dr. Kumble Subbaswamy, Provost, and Dr. Mike Karpf, Executive VP for Health Affairs, were in attendance.

Congressman Chandler provided his insights into the current "world in Washington D.C." and indicated his hope that there would be opportunities in 2010 to compromise on critical issues facing this nation including health care reform.  In his words, "Nothing gets done without compromise."  He also praised the great work that is being done at the University of Kentucky and in particular the UK Chandler Medical Center.   He indicated his close connection to the UK Medical Center and its relationship to his late grandfather, former Governor A. B. "Happy" Chandler.
