"Publish or Perish"
Everyone knows the old mantra in academia: "publish or
perish." Luckily, I have always hoped for an opportunity where writing
is part of my job description. This blog has been an excellent way to
force me to write. I've also taken the last few months to put to paper a
few of my thoughts on health care reform and reforming the large public
payors, Medicare and Medicaid.
So I was thrilled when I was asked to submit a chapter in 2010 Health Law & Compliance,
edited by a former UK'er John Steiner. Rob Edwards, my co-author, and I
spent several months this past summer describing the environment which
has led to Congressional action (or inaction) on health care reform.
I am proud to say that 2010 Health Law & Compliance
is now available on Amazon, and Chapter 7 is still relevant even now
that health insurance reform has stalled. Chapter 7 is titled "Health
Care Reform During an Economic Crisis" and speaks to the personalities,
Washington DC culture, and policy initiatives being debated by our
President and Congress.
