About

Personal Statement

I was born and raised in Kentucky and feel a close kinship to fellow Kentuckians. I chose nursing as a career because of an interest in helping others in illness and in health and enjoy doing this in my home state of Kentucky. I received my Associate’s degree in nursing in 1995 and later continued my education while working at UK advancing now to a Master’s degree in nursing. I have worked in family practice as a nurse practitioner for 6 years and as a registered nurse for 24 years. I enjoy a focus in general health care with a special interest in preventive care.

I have had the best experience with Dr Crum. The staff was friendly, very helpful and the service was fast. I have so much appreciation with Dr. Crum because she took care of me and listened patiently to what I said and how I felt. All the staff are very helpful and very knowledgeable and they clearly explain to me in detail what I need to do regarding treatments or for my next appointment, recommendations, and all I need to know. I always appreciate it.

Seemed very uninterested in anything I had to say. She appeared to hate her job and did not want to be at work that day.

I explained what I was dealing with and Carrie Crum was extremely indifferent and showed little to no concern.

I had no clue what bloodwork we were doing. It seems as though she will focus on one thing while I'm there. I have multiple things going on. I never get to discuss them all.

Carrie Crum was the care provider I had due to my usual care provider not being available. She made rude comments about my weight, and what I eat within 5 minutes of meeting me. She then spent most of the rest of the visit explaining the benefits of weight loss shots, even though I was there for just a routine visit. When looking through my labs, Carrie acted shocked that my liver, kidneys, cholesterol, pulse, and Blood Pressure was perfect, I assume due to my weight. It seemed like the only thing that Carrie cared about was my weight. I suffer from migraines and take medicine daily for that, and this got only a brief question on wether or not I wanted to continue my medicine, but my weight was brought up the entire meeting. I am an adult with thick skin and this does not bother me, however what of the young boys and girls who are called obese and fat by this provider, and told that they need weight loss shots, When that is not the reason they are there to see the provider?

It was explained to me that I would receive antibiotics and steroids for sinusitis/sinus infection and the start of ear infection. Carrie Crum even went over how to take the steroids while breastfeeding (waiting 4 hours after taking the pill to nurse). When I went to the pharmacy an hour later, the steroids had not been sent in, only the antibiotics. The office was closed, so I got a hold of the on-call doctor, who said there was nothing in my notes about steroids, so they couldn't give it to me either. And it is a holiday weekend, so there's not way to get the medicines I need for another 3 days after my appointment. It was very frustrating and neglectful of Carrie Crum not to at least make a note in my chart for another provider. I genuinely would recommend people going elsewhere before having to see Carrie, although I love Dr. Hufnagel, whom I usually see.

First time seeing her, didn't introduce herself or the gentleman that joined her. Or even tell me why the gentleman was there. Was very blunt and quick. She was in and out before I could even think to ask questions.

NP has been my longest running General Care Provider. They get me and let me ramble, but rope me back in, and provide comprehensive, compassionate, and caring service. They always seem overworked, but always make time for me. You can feel the love they have for their patients, even through the constraints of the system.

She said that I did have a uti, and she was sending my sample off for 'cultures' but did not say why. I also mentioned that I felt an immense amount of pressure in my face when bending over, she told me to try Flonase or a decongestant. I said I was doing that already but was afraid the decongestant was contributing to the uti. She gave no response and asked if I needed a doctor's excuse. I declined and she left.
