LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 17, 2007) - UK HealthCare's Kentucky Children's Hospital will hold a picnic for pediatric cancer survivors and their families from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Garden Springs Drive, (off Alexandria Dr. from Harrodsburg Rd. or Versailles Rd.), Lexington.
The afternoon of fun, arranged by pediatric nurses at Kentucky Children's Hospital, is the second annual picnic for pediatric cancer survivors. There will be inflatables, a dunking booth, games, musical entertainment, food and prizes for all attendees. And, a surprise guest will join the fun.
Many of the children are like families to the nursing staff, said Marie Yount, a pediatric oncology nurse at Kentucky Children's Hospital. "It pleases us to see the children outside the hospital doing so well. The picnic allows us to see them having fun and enjoying life outside the hospital."
