LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 7, 2005) - Kentucky Children's Hospital will host a Radiothon with WLXX 92.9 The Bear Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-17. The Country for Kids Radiothon was planned to benefit Kentucky Children's Hospital. However, Dr. Tim Bricker, professor and chair of UK pediatrics and physician-in-chief of Kentucky Children's Hospital, announced recently that 100 percent of proceeds from the Radiothon will benefit Children's Hospital - New Orleans. The Radiothon will be broadcast live from Joseph-Beth Booksellers at Lexington Green. Organizers hope to raise over $100,000.
"The needs for rebuilding infrastructure to adequately take care of children will be a huge burden for all of the New Orleans hospitals," said Bricker. "As the country is responding to the needs of the people of New Orleans, the children's hospitals elsewhere will need to help New Orleans rebuild pediatric facilities."
During the Radiothon, many stories will feature young patients who were cared for at the Kentucky Children's Hospital.
