LEXINGTON, Ky. (October 08, 2008) - Dr. Joseph Berger, chair of the University of Kentucky's Department of Neurology, was recently honored at the inaugural Winner's Circle Gala to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The event recognizes multiple sclerosis champions for their tireless efforts on behalf of those affected by the disease.
The black-tie event honored Berger for his many research contributions to multiple sclerosis, his dedication to patients with MS, and his work with the MS clinic during his 13-year tenure at UK.
"In my mind, the Winner's Circle award from the MS Society is chiefly a recognition of efforts to provide for the well being of patients with MS in the Commonwealth by offering the highest quality care coupled with our scientific investigation of a number of the important issues related to this illness," said Berger.
The funds raised from the evening will help to support the many programs and services offered to MS clients in Kentucky and Southeast Indiana. These services include educational programs, financial assistance and social programs for those affected by MS in the chapter area.
