Building the hospital

The new pavilion at UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital will open in phases:

• The first phase unveiled the new UK Chandler Emergency Department in July 2010, with two dedicated entrances: one for adults and one for children.
• The second phase, opened May 2011, will feature two patient care floors along with many public amenities and the UK Arts in HealthCare program.
• Additional floors will be fitted out as needed and as finances are available.

The atrium lobby connects the new pavilion (Pavilion A) with:

• The Gill Building housing the Gill Imaging Center, the Center for Advanced Surgery and the UK Gill Heart Institute (Pavilion G) 
• The building housing Kentucky Children’s Hospital, the maternity floor and several ICUs (Pavilion HA)
• The original hospital building (Pavilion H)
• The Ben F. Roach Building (Pavilion CC)
• The Whitney-Hendrickson Building (Pavilion WH) at Markey Cancer Center
